Nina and Bunny

This is a realistic, with some fantasy parts, 16 pages picture book, meant for two- to six-year-olds.

  1. Bunny is Nina's favorite plush.

  2. Nina takes Bunny everywhere she goes.

  3. Well, except to the bathroom so as not to get it wet.

  4. And also not into the classroom.

  5. Nina has to leave it in the plush box, so Bunny can play with other plush while she learns and plays with her teacher and friends.

  6. Nina is always happy to find Bunny again after school ends. She wants to hold Bunny all along the way home.

  7. Mommy doesn’t agree. Nina has to put Bunny in her backpack so Bunny can rest a while.

  8. But that day, Nina didn’t want to listen to mommy and hide Bunny under her jacket while mommy talked to the teacher.

  9. And so Nina went home holding Bunny under her jacket.

  10. But at home, oh no! Nina couldn’t find Bunny!

  11. Nina cried because she missed Bunny and also she regretted not listening to mommy.

  12. The next morning, Nina went to school sadly without Bunny.

  13. After school, a mom came to find Nina and mommy. She found Bunny on the sidewalk. Nina dropped it without realizing it.

  14. Nina and mommy thanked the kind mom.

  15. Nina put Bunny in her backpack.

  16. They went home happily.

I submitted this story for the 2nd Peer-graded Assignment: Genre, Form and Audience: Define your Audience of MOOC Writing for Young Readers: Opening the Treasure Chest by Commonwealth Education Trust on Coursera.

I hesitated to put some caption for the ideas of pictures we can put for each page. But finally I submitted like below.

I didn’t check whether children can bring their plush toys to kindergarten in other countries. But they can in France! So in fact I’m not really sure that this story applied to children outside France… 🤔😅
